You.com raises $100M Series C at $1.5B valuation, pivots from consumer search to enterprise AI infrastructure

You.com today announced a $100 million Series C funding round led by Cox Enterprises, valuing the company at $1.5 billion. The round also drew returning backers Georgian, Salesforce Ventures, and Norwest. The company says it will use the funds to expand operations and development efforts.
The round caps a pivot away from the consumer web. You.com now sells a suite of APIs that help enterprises build AI applications. The company says its benchmarks show it outperforms major players like Bing’s API and Google’s search API on both accuracy and speed while remaining cost-effective, and says it now processes over a billion queries a month for clients such as DuckDuckGo, Windsurf, and Harvey.
You.com says its platform is model agnostic and selects the right model for the task. The company pitches its technology as the missing infrastructure for AI agents, which it says will soon outnumber human web users. Co-founders Socher and McCann framed the round as a bet on that future: ‘We have built the highways of the agentic era,’ they wrote in a blog post.
The record
In a blog post, they said the company processes over 1 billion queries monthly via its API for clients including DuckDuckGo, Windsurf, and Harvey, and that they are 'building the highways of the agentic era.'
One year later — open only if you can handle spoilers
The pivot put You.com among a wave of startups — Perplexity, Exa and others — betting that AI agents, not people, would become the web's heaviest readers, and that whoever supplied their retrieval layer would matter. The consumer search engine it began as never dented Google; the enterprise "answer engine" it became is the bet the company is now known for.
